Related rights are the rights related to copyright, that have their special subject matter of protection, which is mainly related to copyright works. These rights are called the rights related to copyright or the rights neighboring to copyright or simply neighboring rights.

Neighboring rights arise in copyrighted works, and have the greatest share to improve the public recognition of copyrighted works. A common misconception is that works that have neighboring rights are considered as copyrighted. However, they are different from copyrighted works. If we look at a stage theater as an example; When the text presented in theatrical form is copyrighted; Operators who have presented on the platform will also have neighboring rights.

There are three kinds of neighboring rights. These are:

rights of performers(actors, musicians, singers, dancers, or generally people who perform) in their performances;

rights of producers of sound recordings(also called phonograms) in their recordings (cassette recordings, compact discs, etc.); and

rights of broadcasting organizations in their radio and television programs and in Internet broadcasts such as 'podcasts'.

In general, copyright is one of the types of intellectual property.
